Ever since the Industrial Revolution, the importance of rubber in modern life has increased multifold. We know of no other material that is as versatile as rubber. Rubber, under certain conditions, acts as a viscoelastic material which means that it can withstand large amounts of stress and strain and yet maintain its integrity. Rubber resists strong chemical agents and possesses the capacity to tolerate abrasion and high loads.

In several applications where rubber is used, there is no substitute due to its unique properties of elasticity, flexibility and strong resistance to strain.

Owing to these properties of rubber, this material is extensively used in wide applications in several industries such as paper manufacturing, textile sizing and processing, plastic film corona treatment, steel processing, leathercloth manufacturing, cement roofing and related areas where production occurs in a continuous web form
